Skip the Waiting List for Ear Wax Removal in Warrington
Many GP surgeries no longer offer ear wax removal in Warrington and surrounding areas, and if you don’t qualify for NHS microsuction or ear syringing, or you’ve been on the appointment list for a while, it can be a long and frustrating wait.
Dealing with symptoms of ear wax build-up like hearing loss, whistling hearing aids or ear pain can be difficult, so quick, effective treatment is really important to help you get on with your everyday life. At Interhearing Warrington, we have been providing professional ear wax removal treatment for adults and children since 2009. No GP referral required. No NHS waiting list. Just simple, effective treatment.
Signs you may need ear wax removal
Common signs you may need professional ear wax removal include:
Muffled or reduced hearing (in one or both ears)
Ears feel full or blocked
Earache or a feeling of pressure
Tinnitus - ringing, buzzing or hissing in the ears
Whistling hearing aids
Itchy ears
Still unsure whether ear wax is the problem? Don’t worry, our clinical ear examination will confirm whether ear wax is the cause of your symptoms before any treatment begins, giving you confidence that you are receiving the right solution for your hearing health - without the need to visit your GP for a referral.
You may need ear wax removal more often if you have narrow ear canals or regularly wear hearing aids, earbuds or hearing protection, so why not book ahead?
Microsuction vs Ear Syringing
Our preferred method of earwax removal is microsuction, which is proven to be a clinically safer and more gentle and effective treatment and suitable for the majority of patients, including many who cannot tolerate water-based syringing or want treatment without the 10 - 14 day ear drop preparation time required for syringing.

Unlike traditional syringing, there is no need to use olive oil drops for weeks before microsuction ear wax removal.
If you can, it is often helpful to apply olive oil drops or spray for 1–3 days before your appointment, just in case you have very hard or compacted wax - but it is not always necessary.
If you have booked a same-day or next-day appointment, don’t worry, you can still go ahead. If you are able, use olive oil drops or spray the night before and/or the morning of your appointment this can help with effective removal of dry, deep or compacted wax. However, many ear wax removal treatments are successful with little or no olive oil preparation.
Wax removal is usually completed in one appointment, however, we also offer a free follow-up within 4 weeks of your initial appointment if it is needed.
What to expect at your appointment
Your appointment begins with a clinical ear care examination to confirm whether wax is present and whether removal is the reason for your symptoms.
If treatment goes ahead, wax is removed carefully using microsuction with visual magnification. After the procedure, you’ll have time to discuss your aftercare plan.
If no wax is found during your ear examination, we’ll discuss other potential causes of hearing loss and offer professional advice. If this is the case, we will only charge our minimum £25 clinic fee.
Most patients find microsuction ear wax removal comfortable and effective, with appointments usually lasting around 20 minutes.
If no wax is found, you will only be charged a £25 hearing health check fee and your clinician will explain the findings and offer helpful, professional advice, which may include a visit to your GP for a referral or treatment or even a hearing test.
Since 2009, Interhearing has delivered independent, professional ear care through convenient local clinics. Our NHS-experienced clinicians specialise in microsuction ear wax removal and provide effective, trusted hearing care without long waiting times.
Patients consistently rate Interhearing as 5 stars on Google and Trustpilot for our professional, friendly team, gentle and efficient care, and fast appointments, with some same day or next day bookings available.

Everything you need to know about wax removal in Warrington
▸
Do I need to use olive oil drops before my appointment?
We suggest preparing your ears by using olive oil drops twice per day for 2–3 days before your appointment where possible. If you’ve booked at short notice, aim for a couple of applications before your visit.
▸
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Same-day appointments are sometimes available, and patients are usually seen within a few days.
▸
What should I do if I have ear wax build-up?
If you’re suffering from ear wax build up, the best solution is to look for a ear wax removal specialist near you. If left untreated, built up ear wax can result in temporary hearing loss, tinnitus and other issues.
▸
How long does an ear wax removal appointment take at Interhearing Warrington?
Appointments usually take 20-30 minutes, depending on how much wax is present and whether one or both ears are affected. We recommend using olive oil drops for 1-3 days before your appointment to help soften ear wax.
▸
How often should I remove ear wax?
Your ears have a self cleaning mechanism and so, excess ear wax only needs to be removed if it is causing discomfort, pain or hearing loss.
▸
Do you offer home visits?
At this moment we don’t offer home visits but we have professionally run clinics throughout the UK.
▸
Do you offer ear syringing or ear irrigation?
We use microsuction as our primary method. Healthcare professionals now tend to favour microsuction for ear wax removal because it’s controlled, low-risk and consistently effective.
▸
What other services do you offer?
FREE over-60s hearing tests
FREE 14-day hearing aid trials
Tinnitus support & therapy
TMD Treatment & Support
Ear wax removal gift vouchers – find out more here
▸
Do you see patients from outside Warrington?
Yes, we regularly see patients from across Warrington and nearby areas in Cheshire, including Widnes, Runcorn, Great Sankey and Culcheth.
