Find your Phonak hearing aid manual
Phonak publishes a user guide (manual) for each of its hearing aids. To find yours, first check your hearing aid’s model name. You’ll find it in the paperwork from your fitting, or your audiologist can tell you. The letter in the model name shows which Phonak range it belongs to. For example, an Audéo L-R is part of the Lumity range.

Phonak hearing aids: quick answers
How do I turn on a rechargeable Phonak hearing aid?
Rechargeable Phonak hearing aids usually switch on automatically when you take them out of the charger. If yours doesn’t, press and hold the lower part of the button for 3 seconds until the light blinks. Wait for a solid green light, which means it’s ready to use.
How do I turn off a rechargeable Phonak hearing aid?
Press and hold the lower part of the button for 3 seconds until the light turns solid red. Putting the hearing aids in a charger that’s plugged in also switches them off.
How do I turn a Phonak hearing aid with batteries on and off?
The battery door is the on/off switch. Close the battery door to turn the hearing aid on, and open it to turn it off.
How long do Phonak hearing aids take to charge?
Newer rechargeable models, such as the Audéo Lumity and Infinio ranges, can take up to 3 hours to charge fully. Phonak recommends a 3-hour charge before you use them for the first time. When charging is complete, the light shows solid green, and you can safely leave them in the charger.
How do I pair my Phonak hearing aids with my phone?
Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and open its Bluetooth settings. Then switch on both hearing aids. You have 3 minutes to pair them. Select your hearing aid from the list on your phone, and a beep confirms they’re paired. You only need to do this once for each phone. To use the remote control features, download the myPhonak app.

Phonak hearing aids from the NHS
If the NHS fitted your Phonak hearing aids, your NHS hearing aid service looks after them. NHS hearing aids are provided free as a long-term loan, and you can get free batteries and repairs from the NHS service that fitted them. They can also replace hearing aids that are lost or damaged.

How to fit your Phonak Audéo hearing aid
It’s important that your hearing aid is fitting properly in your ear. If it isn’t it may fall out, start making a whistle sound and affect the sound quality. You know when the hearing aid is in your ear properly because the wire that comes down from the hearing aid to your ear is touching your ear all the way down.
How to recharge your hearing aids
This is only for the rechargeable Phonak hearing aids. As soon as you put the hearing aids in the charger it will turn them off and start charging them. You will also notice that the light starts to flash red, orange or green. Charging times vary by model. Newer models, such as the Audéo Lumity and Infinio ranges, can take up to 3 hours to charge fully, and the light shows solid green when they’re full. When you take them out of the charger then they will turn on automatically.
How to change your battery
Hearing aids use a special type of battery called a zinc and air battery. These batteries only last for 4-7 days when in a hearing aid. When you put the battery in the hearing aid you have to take off a small sticker on the flat part of the battery, this allows air to get in the battery and start the reactions in the battery that generate the power.
How to turn your hearing aid on/off (non-rechargeable)
This video shows you how to turn your hearing aids on/off for non-rechargeable hearing aids. It is simply done by opening or closing the battery door. The battery door is at the bottom of the hearing aid and is where you place the battery.
How to change the Cerustop filter
These filters are for Belong (B) and older hearing aids only. Filters stop the wax in your ear getting into the hearing aid. The part that goes into your ear is the speaker unit (receiver), this is where the sound comes out of the hearing aid and into your ear. This receiver has a dome (rubber grommet) on the end to keep it in place in your ear.
How to change the CeruShield filter
These filters are for Marvel (M) hearing aids only. Filters stop the wax in your ear getting into the hearing aid. The part that goes into your ear is the speaker unit (receiver), this is where the sound comes out of the hearing aid and into your ear. This receiver has a dome (rubber grommet) on the end to keep it in place in your ear.
Need replacing every 6 months at least.
How to change the Dome (Rubber Grommet)
Domes are the rubber grommets that fit on the end (receiver) of the hearing aid. It is the Dome that goes in your ear when connected to the hearing aid. Over a period of time this can start to tear, this tearing indicates it needs replacing.
How to clean your hearing aid
Cleaning your hearing aids is an important thing to do daily. This is usually best done at night when you take the hearing aids out. It can prolong the life of your hearing aid and help keep it operating at its optimum.
