Couldn't recommend this service enough! Judy was so kind and professional and the service has made a drastic difference in my hearing!

Was seen by Judy, such a nice, friendly and professional lady. I was deaf in one ear, full of wax, but after a mastoid operation presented a few problems such as a narrow ear canal. It took about 20 minutes to sort out but such a relief I could hear again. Judy also sorted my other ear out. I can't recommend Judy enough, she is simply a nice lady and a credit to the NHS.

Removing Ear Wax with Microsuction

Microsuction is a quick and safe way to remove ear wax. The microsuction technique uses gentle suction to clean the ear and is much safer and more comfortable than all other forms of ear cleaning, including syringing and irrigation.

With microsuction, there is no need to use ear drops for weeks prior to treatment, just the night before, and the morning of your appointment. A small, thin probe is directed at the ear wax in the ear canal, and then gentle suction is applied to slowly remove the ear blockage.

When it comes to earwax removal, cotton buds just make things worse, and syringing can cause severe discomfort and other side effects such as infections and vertigo.

Interhearing are the first to offer ear wax removal by microsuction in clinics across Shrewsbury, Cheshire, the West Midlands and Mid-Wales.

Benefits of Microsuction

Available to those where syringing is prohibited

More versatile than syringing

Significantly lower risk of perforation and infection

Not necessary to use ear drops prior to wax removal

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I have ear wax build-up?

If you’re suffering from ear wax build up, the best solution is to look for a ear wax removal specialist near you. If left untreated, built up ear wax can result in temporary hearing loss, tinnitus and other issues.

What are the different methods of ear wax removal?

There are several types of professional ear cleaning services such as Ear Irrigation, Syringing & Microsuction. At Interhearing we use Microsuction to remove excess ear wax from your ears, as it’s generally considered to be the safest and most effective of these methods.

How often should I remove earwax?

Your ears have a self cleaning mechanism and so, excess earwax only needs to be removed if it is causing discomfort, pain or hearing loss.

Do you offer home visits?

At this moment we don’t offer home visits but we have professionally run clinics throughout the UK.

Do you offer same day earwax removal?

We do! If you need your ear wax removed urgently, please contact our team to book a same day appointment (subject to availability).
