Are you having trouble hearing clearly?
When ear wax builds up, it can lead to a sense of blockage, muffled hearing, ringing in the ears, dizziness and discomfort.
We understand how difficult it can be to access trusted ear care services, especially now that many GP surgeries are no longer able to offer ear wax removal treatment, or can only provide it on a limited basis, with strict eligibility criteria.
Symptoms of blocked ears can be painful, uncomfortable and disruptive to your day-to-day life, so facing a long NHS waiting list can feel extremely frustrating.
With Interhearing Powys, you can skip the wait and access local, professional ear wax removal without the need for a GP referral, and enjoy clearer hearing sooner.

Benefits of Microsuction for removing earwax
Microsuction is considered the preferred method of ear wax removal by many healthcare professionals for safe, effective treatment.
Suction rather than water-based method - microsuction gently removes wax using fine suction, which many people find cleaner and more comfortable and effective than traditional water-based syringing methods.
Performed under magnification - with microsuction, magnification using medical loupes is used to help the clinician see the ear canal during treatment, helping to make the procedure more precise, effective and controlled.
Suitable for most ears - Microsuction is often more suitable for patients who cannot have their ears syringed, including those with a history of ear infections, perforated eardrums, or those who have previously had a negative reaction to water syringing.

What to expect at your ear wax removal appointment?
From the moment you book your Interhearing appointment, you’re in safe hands, with pre-appointment information provided every step of the way, either by our friendly booking team or by email or text, so you know exactly what to expect before your visit.
If earwax is dry, hard or deep and compacted, using olive oil drops or spray for 1–2 days before your appointment, can really help. However, many patients find they do not need any preparation at all. So, if you have booked a same-day or next-day appointment, that’s no problem - you can simply use olive oil the night before and/or on the morning of your appointment, if suitable.
In the large majority of cases, ear wax blockages are removed in a single appointment, but iIf a second session is required, this is included in the price, valid for up to 4 weeks after your initial appointment.
If there is no wax to remove, we will talk you through your options and only charge a £25 consultation fee.
